On February 24, 2022, Russia began an unprovoked, full-scale invasion and genocidal war against its peaceful neighbor, Ukraine, which unfortunately has been ongoing to this day. It has now been nearly two years of ongoing suffering and horror for Ukrainians, who have been heroically defending themselves and the world.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) verified a total of 9,369 civilian deaths during Russia's invasion of Ukraine as of July 30, 2023. Furthermore, 16,646 people were reported to have been injured. It is important to note that the complete count of Ukrainian people murdered and injured by Russians is not known, as there are temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine where people have also been injured and killed.

These numbers are sadly increasing every day and include Ukrainian teachers, writers, dancers, artists, athletes, elderly, and children. Their lives are taken with no reason by brutal aggression.

In addition, according to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), more than 6.2 million refugees fled from Ukraine to other countries (as of July 2023). There are around 5.1 million internally displaced people in Ukraine (as of May 2023). Approximately 17.6 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance in 2023.

Last year, together with partners we organized fundraising concerts and performed in other festivals, concerts, and events to help raise money for humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. Together with our partners we raised $75,000. This year, we want to continue our fundraising efforts, as the needs of Ukrainians are great. Our effort goes towards supporting people of Ukraine who continue their fight and suffer loses daily.

Dancing is also a form of resistance and activism—we dance to show the world that we care about our sisters and brothers in Ukraine and that we stand with them. There are several dancers in Carpathia who are from Ukraine, have Ukrainian roots, and/or who have family and friends in Ukraine.

Thank you for helping and supporting Ukraine! Feature the star of your collection first.
